Best Lechon Manok

Chooks Lechon Manok
        Chooks to go Lechon Manok
Lechon Manok is an all time favorite Filipino dish.In every occasion the table has no life without lechon manok in the middle of all the dishes.Christmas parties,Birthday parties and all, lechon manok is in the menu list to be prepared.
It is either roasted in an oven or grilled with the traditional way of cooking.I remember before my parents prepared a grilled one where they used charcoal while the chicken was put into a  bamboo wand.I was happy seeing them cooking the lechon manok while having a glass of tuba-coco wine.
By then every-time I go home for an occasion I must see to it that we have a chicken down the cage to be grilled and that is our tradition already during our balangay fiesta.
But at this present year, when I have tasted the CHOOCK's to go Lechon Manok.I started to like it. Because at first you don't need to have sauce to dip in.The sauce is already inside the whole chicken. When you bite,it is s very soft and tasty and yummy. Before they have the hot and spicy one which I like most but they don't serve it anymore now. They only have the sweet flavor which is also a good one for kids can enjoy too..but I still prefer to have the hot and spicy flavor.
Choocks Lechon Manok have many branches now and I think every towns and cities all over Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao has it.So to people out there if you dont cook your roasted chicken in your house prefer to have the choocks to go lechon.

Try it and post your comment here..when you get back.

Best Chao Pat Chin

chow pat chin
One of the fave dishes that I and my late best friend Lolong is the Chao Pat Chin.Where it is a mixed of vegetables, seafood, spinach and beef and of coarse rice.

The best place that we usually dine is at Ala King Restaurant near Chung Hua Hospital..They prepared the chow pat chin very well and well presented.

Every week end  after his duty and after attending the mass we go there and order the same dish and a beer after.

my late best friend taking his last spoon of chao pat chin
I will share to you how we discover Ala King Chao Pat Chin. One day me and my late best friend went to his old office to check if is it operating still, that is happen to be closer to Fuente Osmena Circle.Afterwards he was done checking that was around 10:45am, he told me  "Bai gutom man ko" then I said we look for a karenderia for us to eat some.We been looking around and we dont like the dishes in the food stand we had looked. So we roam around until we have seen the full air conditioned restaurant and my late best friend told me"Try nato ni bai" then I said okay we will go inside..and then we look their menu posted on the wall and my late best friend who really love vegetables and seafood order the Chao Pat Chin..and I told him "bai duha-a nalang "so we placed our order and we waited like five minutes and yeah it was served hot..and we tasted it..wow very delicious and yummy food and safe since its well cooked and clean.
So by then..we go back there every-time we love to eat something healthy...

If you try to have the Chao Pat Chin then try to have the Ala King version..

Kalderitang Kambing(Goat Meat)

Kalderitang Kambing
Last two years ago, my late Best Friend "Lolong" and I who happened to live in Inaywan Cebu which is closely near to SRP talking about Kalderitang Kambing, where we were searching for a week.
One day my late best friend went  to Talisay for his morning routines like doing his exercises in Family Beach Resort that is at the back of old Talisay City Hall now, on his way home boarding on his mountain bike, he saw the signage "Kandingan sa SRP" so he stop and grab his mobile phone and he texted me.."Bai nakakita naku asa ta kaon ug kanding hehehe diri sa SRP" (Bai I saw already where we can eat Kalderitang Kambing.. here in SRP).

So we went there at dinner time..and we saw a lot of  cars parking outside, that made the high-way having a little traffic, hearing the parking boys shouting "diri lang 3x", and yeah people are busy holding their plates and we saw Kalderitang Kambing displayed in front of their friendly servers.

Kalderitang Kambing(take out)
We ordered the kalderitang kambing and of course we ordered two servings, each sliced cost 40pesos and it is really affordable, and the taste was really soothing and my late best friend told me.."their version of cooking kalderitang kambing is very strong and has unique flavor".

Everytime my late best friend is off from his long week of duty as a technician in a religious TV network  here in Cebu we go there and order the same dish paired with hot rice and beer after in Tabunok videoke bars..

Kandingan sa SRP also have variety of dishes dsiplayed like Linarang, Lechon Kawali, Paklai, Bam-i and many more. But this year I was not able to go back there since I lost my best friend last July 27,2011 on the day of his birthday.

I wish to go their soon but I need to  idle the place for some reasons but then I strongly consider The Kandingan  sa SRP as one of the best dining place in Cebu..where you can eat safely, parking wise and most importantly very clean.

Kandingan sa SRP is a must.

Beef Kare-Kare

Beef Kare-Kare
   Kare-Kare
Have you tried this kind of Filipino dish?Yeah it looks yummy and tasty...This cuisine is a very popular in Cebu,  most likely restaurants in uptown Cebu  are serving this Beef Kare-Kare. but I will recommend Golden Cowrie Restaurant in Lahug if you will try to have this dish.
My cousin and I have already tasted their beef kare-kare and it really taste good, served with bagoong.Dipping the beef, eggplant into a cooked alamang and paired with hot rice.Wow! very enjoyable to eat..
Beef Kare-Kare is composed of  beef cut into cubes, peanut butter, grounded toasted rice, cooked bagoong alamang (anchovies),diced onions, garlic, atsuete oil, sliced eggplant, pechay, sitaw, banana bud, salt and food coloring.
Kare-Kare could also be a chicken and pork. But expect Pinoy chefs to create any dish on their own way of cooking.
We have also tried the beef kare kare version of Hukad Restaurant in Ayala Terraces, but they separate the sauce and other cooked ingredients. You are the one who will mix it into your plate..but we prefer to have the mixed one in Golden Cowrie Lahug Cebu City. It's ready to eat from the big bowl to your plate...yum..yum.

Let's Eat Pinoy Food and share them to others..Its more fun in the Philippines!

Pochero

(Pochero)Beef Stew
    Pochero
Pochero is the  Cebuano term for Bulalo.Pochero is one of the very known Filipino Cuisines in Cebu,it is made up of either beef or chicken, but I suggest try to have the beef pochero in Abuhan Dos where they also serve sizzling pochero if you dont like to have a stew.

Pochero is the real comfort food for that cold day, from friends hang outs at night, and even from a long travel and want to have a hot and well prepared stew.

Sizzling Beef Pochero
"Last year my cousin and I went to Ayala Mall Cebu and she suddenly told me that she wanted to eat something hot beef stew then I told her what about we will try to have the Pochero in Abuhan Dos in Ramos Street at the back of Summit Circle,,then no question ask we quickly go to the taxi station and ask the driver to bring us there in Abuhan Dos..and so we ordered the Pochero, the beef stew one..and yeah its really comforting she said.and we order one set for us to bring home and share to her father my uncle."

So try to have the Pochero if you feel like sipping a hot soup in a big bowl.

Pinoy Street Foods

My Top Four Pinoy Street Foods that I commonly seen in the streets of Cebu City. I have tried them all and yeah you can feed your empty stomach in an affordable and accessible place,,like they are found in almost streets in the city. Here are my lists..

Shomai
Shomai
At  first you may think and ask what shomai is composed of. The orginal shomai is made of pound ground pork, salt, small onion, grated fresh ginger, potato starch, shomai wrappers and pepper.
And by the decades and generations, the other flavors follows like chicken shomai, beef shomai and even vegetable shomai.
But in the streets of Cebu, you can only buy and try one flavor, the pork shomai, which I oftenly used to buy after my school classes and mass every Sundays or even when I come to the city.It is only 3.00pesos each and in your 3 to 4 pieces and  paired with Puso or also called as Hanging Rice and cold Coke or any drinks, your empty stomach will be filled right away..

Fishball
 Fishballs
My second favorite street food in the street is Fishballs.Fishballs is  made of  flaked fish, flour, evaporated milk, spring onion stalks, finely chopped, oil, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, salt and pepper.
The price is 3pesos per stick and free dipping sauce  provided by the vendor..either sweet or hot.

Tempura
 Tempura
It is the same texture of Fishballs and made of fish but the its not round it is elongated. It's sold per piece and 3pesos each.
Free dip but only once. For safe purposes.
Dont miss to try this also when you come to Cebu..

Balut
 Balut
It  is a fertilized duck (or chicken) egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside..boiled and served hot.Popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein street  food.
I recommend to put some salt, chilli and vinegar after peeling the shells, and yeah sipping the broth that surrounds the embryo really feels good. You can eat also the young chick and the yolk inside and let the white remain in the shell or you can also eat that one..
The price is right its only 15 to 20 pesos per egg.affordable and worthy..

So, these are my top four street foods that I have tried here in my city..If you can come to Cebu, try this four food  and share it to your friends around.
